  • Vehicles account for 35.91 per cent of greenhouse gas emission in the state capital. Keeping it in mind, the Shimla Municipal Corporation has decided to write to the Chairman of the National Green Tribunal to recommend the odd-even formula for the state capital. The greenhouse gas emissions inventory for Shimla, prepared under the Urban LEDs Project funded by the European Union Commission and the United Nation Habitat was being released. Total GHG emission is 2,18,898 tonnes of carbon dioxide (Co2) out of which electricity amounted to 59 per cent, petrol 12 per cent and diesel 28 per cent.
  • Governor Acharya Devvrat launched the “Swachh Himachal” campaign, initiated by a Hindi daily of the state. The campaign aims at creating awareness and understanding among the youth about the benefits of keeping the hill state clean and green.
  • To cut down traffic congestion on the choked Shimla-Chandigarh route, the Himachal Government is planning gandola services with stations at Parwanoo, Barog, Kasauli and Tara Devi with the assistance from the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
