  • A committee constituted by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) will examine all illegal constructions which are underway in the Kasauli Development Area during their two-day visit to the area on April 12-13. The NGT is hearing a case on constructions underway in the area in violation of various norms.
  • Rajni, a Congress member from the Khaniara ward, was elected as the first Mayor of Dharamsala.
  • Monkeys will now be culled scientifically in Shimla and efforts are on to get them declared vermin in all other affected areas of the state by seeking permission from the ministry concerned. Similarly, people are facing problems with ‘neel’ cows and wild boars which are destroying crops.
  • Worried over sharp declining trends in apple production in the country, the Union Government is coming out with new proposals and measures, including setting up of more cold storage facilities, to augment the produce, particularly in the hill states of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.
