  • Deputy Commissioner of Chamba launched a campaign ‘apni jameen’ aimed at resolving various issues pertaining to the non-availability of land and transfer of land. The issue of providing land to landless will also be covered under this campaign.
  • Giving respite to Manali residents, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) relaxed some of its conditions imposed on commercial activities in the eco-sensitive Rohtang Pass.
  • Three-day district-level Red Cross fairs at Solan and Nahan concluded with cultural activities and sporting events.
  • Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said the Rs 1,185-crore Himachal Pradesh Horticulture Development Project approved by the World Bank would revolutionize the production of fruits in the state by imparting latest techniques and plant material to the growers.
  • The Shimla Municipal Corporation today got in-principal approval for extension of six months to the Rs 7 crore sanitation project from the senior project manager of a European Union team to India as the project is funded by it.
  • Himachal Pradesh has been voted the Best Indian Destination for Adventure Award for 2016 by the Lonely Planet Magazine.
  • The weather-based insurance scheme has been introduced for tomato, potato, ginger and peas during the Kharif season on an experimental basis to protect the farmers against crop losses due to heavy rain, hailstorm and drought.
  • The State Eco-Tourism Policy approved on two previous occasions in January and later in March earlier this year was shelved. It is for the third time in four months that a fresh proposal, recommending amendments, will be placed before the Cabinet when it will meet.
